Irex Latin I know this was at one time a Genus of fish, until about 1870 (renamed).
This also appears as a Surname, Road name and House name!
Can anyone offer any thoughts, as to what esle Irex is (or was)?
(Just found this site today).....

But is Irex a first name? If it is, where did you find it?
Any information can help to find the origin and the meaning.

Irex found here.... Most of these appear in 18/19th Suffolk, England.
However, this name also appears as the name of various ships/ boats, 19th/20th, and 18th? here they might be based upon the name of the fish but i consider it unlikely that those on land are related to the fish?

If Irex is a place name, I can't help you (I only have resources about first names), but I suggest you ask someone in the
Society for Name Studies in Britain and Ireland (S.N.S.B.I.) about Irex. Maybe they have some clue.
Good luck with your research.
